Why use unprinted newsprint for packing? It wraps around irregular shapes, separates stacked items and can be crumpled into light void fill—without the ink transfer associated with printed newspaper.

How to Wrap Glassware and Plates

  1. Prepare: work on a clean, flat surface and use a correctly sized carton box.
  2. Wrap separately: place each item near a corner of the sheet, roll it fully and fold excess paper around vulnerable edges.
  3. Separate: keep pieces from touching; use dividers or bubble wrap for extra-fragile items.
  4. Fill gaps: crumple additional paper or use loose fill so nothing moves when the carton is gently tested.

This is general packing paper, not acid-free conservation tissue. Use specialist archival materials for irreplaceable or chemically sensitive items.

Common questions

Newsprint Packing Paper FAQs

What is newsprint packing paper used for?

Unprinted newsprint paper is used to wrap glassware, plates, ornaments and other household items, separate surfaces, line cartons and crumple into light void fill during moving, storage and packing.

What size are the newsprint sheets?

Each clean grey sheet measures 53 × 78cm. NP-10 contains 10 sheets for $3, while NP-50 contains 50 sheets for $15.

Is this the same as printed newspaper?

No. This is clean, unprinted newsprint paper, so there is no newspaper ink to transfer to packed items. It is still ordinary packing paper rather than conservation-grade archival tissue.

How should I wrap plates and glassware with newsprint?

Wrap each piece individually, add extra paper around rims, handles and corners, and keep items separated inside a suitable carton. Use bubble wrap for extra-fragile pieces and fill remaining gaps before sealing.

Can newsprint paper be used for long-term archival storage?

It is intended for general packing, moving and storage, not conservation-grade archiving. Use acid-free tissue and archival materials for photographs, artworks, valuable documents or sensitive surfaces.

What delivery and collection options are available?

Choose free self collection, $30 delivery within 3 working days, or $40 same-day delivery for orders placed before 12pm. Current options appear on the order form.
